FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
After coming out victorious in its first two home games of the season, the Canisius women's basketball team vies to sweep its three-game homestand when it hosts Robert Morris on Saturday. Tipoff from the Koessler Athletic Center is slated for 7 p.m.

2. Long Time Coming
Canisius and Robert Morris are meeting for just the third time in program history Saturday.

Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the Griffs and Colonials since a Dec. 2, 1986 meeting in Moon Township, Pa.

The teams split the previous two meetings in the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons, with the home team prevailing in each contest.

3. Home Sweet Home
After opening a three-game homestand with two victories, Canisius is seeking to open the 2021-22 season with a 3-0 mark on home court.

No Canisius team has been victorious in its first three home games to open a season since 2015-16 when the Griffs also won their first three games on home court. That season, Canisius defeated Saint Francis, 77-52, Binghamton, 80-50, and Bucknell, 61-56. The Griffs concluded the year with a 10-6 mark at the Koessler Athletic Center.

4. Haskell Goes for 20-Plus
Sophomore guard Dani Haskell led the Griffs in scoring in Tuesday's victory over Detroit Mercy scoring 24 points, one off of tying her season and career high (25 at Binghamton on Nov. 13).

Haskell is one of three players in the MAAC with multiple 20-point performances so far this season. She joins Fairfield's Lou Lopez-Senechal, who was tabbed the conference's Preseason Player of the Year, and Niagara's Angel Parker on the elusive list.

5. Strong on the Glass
Senior forward Kayla Jackson has been a strong presence for Canisius in rebounding early on this season. Jackson has logged at least seven rebounds in each of the last four games, leading to her 8.6 rebounds per contest, which ranks fifth in the MAAC.

The Rochester, N.Y., native also has posted three games with a double-digit rebound total, which is tied for second in conference with Marist's Zaria Shazer. Manhattan's Courtney Warley paces the MAAC with four such performances.

Both Shazer and Warley have already received MAAC Player of the Week honors this season.
