1) Puck Drop
The Canisius hockey team hosts two-time defending Atlantic Hockey Association Tournament champion AIC at LECOM Harborcenter this weekend. The Golden Griffins and Yellow Jackets open the Thanksgiving Weekend series Friday before wrapping up the two-game set Saturday. Puck drop for both contests is slated for 1 p.m.

Note: In accordance with the latest Erie County guidelines, fans are required to wear face masks at all times while inside LECOM Harborcenter.

Fans are also still required to show proof of vaccination upon arrival in order to gain entry into the facility for Canisius games.

2) Series Notes
In a series that dates back to the 1992 season, the Griffs hold a 40-23-7 all-time record against the Yellow Jackets, including a 40-22-7 edge in Division I meetings. Canisius' 40 victories against AIC are the most by the Griffs against any school at the Division I level.
The Yellow Jackets have held the edge in the series of late, winning each of the last six meetings between the two programs dating back to the 2018-19 season
Canisius holds a 23-11-5 record against AIC on home ice, with a 6-4-2 ledger against the Yellow Jackets at LECOM Harborcenter. AIC has won three straight games against Canisius in Buffalo, however, including both meetings in their most recent visit in February 2020.

3) Championship Game Rematch
The weekend series between Canisius and AIC serves a rematch the 2021 Atlantic Hockey Tournament title game that took place last March. The Yellow Jackets were victorious in the matchup, defeating the Griffs by a 5-2 margin at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., to capture the title and earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

4) Getting Better as the Game Goes On
Canisius has found a way to become more dangerous offensively as the game has gone on this season as the Griffs are a combined +11 in goal differential after the first period (36-25). That total is in stark contrast with Canisius' first-period production, as the Griffs have been out-scored by its opponents, 14-9, during the opening 20 minutes of play in 2021-22.

5) Up Next
Canisius heads out west next week to face Air Force for a two-game Atlantic Hockey Association series. The weekend set at Cadet Ice Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., begins Dec. 3 with a 9 p.m. EST contest before concluding the following day with a 7 p.m. EST matchup.
