Marist Sweeps Swimming and Diving

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell on the road at Marist Friday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

On the men's side, the Golden Griffins were defeated by a 183-106 margin, while the women's team suffered a 189.5-108.5 setback. 


In women's diving, senior
Adriana Bolender placed second in the 1-meter (202.50) and third in the 3-meter (220.50) events, while sophomore Hope Marshall tied for third in the 3-meter (186.67) dive.

The women's team was led by a dominant performance by graduate student
Sage Pollack. Pollack placed first in three of her four events on the day, leading in the 50 and 100-free events, while placing second in the 200 medley relay. 

The New City, N.Y., native also finished first in the 400 freestyle relay with freshman
Ashley Allaire, sophomore Jordan O'Connor and junior Grace Van Buren.

O'Connor and
Alison Testone rounded out the first-place finishes for the women's team. O'Connor won the 100 back and Testone earned the top spot in the 200 breast.

On the men's side, senior
Liam O'Connell grabbed first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:52.17, while freshmen Archie Minto and Nick Kishbaugh posted first-place finishes in the 200 fly and 500 free, respectively.

Like the women, the men's 400 freestyle relay came away with a first-place finish. O'Connell, along with freshmen
Bronson Benes and Ben Yant, and junior Alexander Hiltbrand, earned the top spot in the final event of the meet.
 
Up Next
• Canisius returns to the pool on Oct. 23, with a tri-meet against the University of Rochester and MAAC rival Siena. A noon start time is scheduled at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center in Rochester, N.Y.
