Outdoor Track Has Strong Day at UB Invitational

The Canisius outdoor track programs ran in the UB Invitational this afternoon. The Golden Griffins finished third in both the men's and women's team standings.

The men's team recorded 44 total points, just six behind second-place Daemen. Buffalo recorded 272 points to take first place in the team standings.

For the men, senior Kobi Donaldson recorded times of 24.97 and 12.01 in the 200 and 100-meter dash, respectively. Four Griffs finished inside the top-10 of the 800-meters, with senior Josh Sopchak (1:57.26) leading the way in fourth, while junior Marcus Brown (1:58.07), freshman Richard Moore (2:00.42) and senior Paul Henry (2:00.68) placed fifth, seventh and eighth in the event.

Junior Anthony Belfatto clocked in at 16:08.07 for sixth place in the men's 5000.

Canisius took third through fifth in the men's 4x400 relay, with the team of Brown, Henry, Sopchak and Doran finishing placing third place with a mark of 3:34.67.

On the women's side, host Buffalo took first place with 290 points followed by Niagara with 89 points in second. St. Bonaventure (11) and Daemen (10) finished behind Canisius (17).

Senior Aileen Doyle (5:03.39) finished five seconds behind Buffalo's Brittany Fuller for second place in the women's 1500. Freshman Bailey Pierce, senior Christian Conner and sophomore Kayla Leo finished five-six-seven in the 5K, while teammates junior Jaci Wallace and sophomore Isabella Iadicicco placed eighth and ninth.

Senior Vivian Mroz and junior Jackie Lamica recorded times of 17.90 and 18.30 in the 100-meter hurdles.
