MAAC Announces Swimming and Diving Preseason Poll

The Canisius women's and men's swimming and diving teams have been projected to finish fourth in this year's MAAC preseason coaches poll.

The women's squad received 67 points in the vote conducted by the league's 10 head coaches. Fairfield (100 points), Marist (88 points) and Iona (77) were picked ahead of the Golden Griffins, with Rider (65 points), Niagara (49 points), Siena (38 points), Monmouth (34 points), Manhattan (20 points) and Saint Peter's (12 points) trailing behind.

The Golden Griffins men's team garnered 61 points in their poll. Rider (99 points), Marist (89 points), and Bryant (79 points) placed ahead of the Griffs, while Iona (61 points) tied The Blue and Gold for fourth place. Fairfield (48 points), Saint Peter's (34 points), Monmouth (29 points), Niagara (21 point) and Manhattan (19 points) closed out the poll placing sixth through twelfth, respectively.

The Griffs will look to exceed expectations when they open the 2018-19 season Oct. 12 against Marist at the McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The meet is slated for a 10 a.m. start time.
