LAST TIME OUT
• For the fourth season in a row the Canisius women's basketball team recorded a regular season sweep of its rival, Niagara, with a 72-66 win over the Purple Eagles in the Gallagher Center, Tuesday night.Â
• Despite trailing, 32-20 at halftime the Blue and Gold took control in the second half, scoring 42 second-half points, en route to the 72-66 victory.
• Canisius' offense was locked in for a majority of the game, as the team shot 47 percent from the field, and had four players reach double-figures for just the second time this season.
• The Icelandic contingent was once again the wind in the Griffs' sails, combining for 38 points, as both Margret Halfdanardottir and Sara Hinriksdottir posted 19.
• Danielle Sanderlin was strong in the paint, tallying 11 points, while Maria Welch returned from injury and tallied 10 points in an all-around effort. The Erie Pa., native also chipped in six rebounds and four assists.
• The Blue and Gold won the battle of the glass, taking down 36 boards as compared to Niagara's 32.Â
• Contender for MAAC Player of the Year, Victoria Rampado, was held to 16 points and just 5-of-14 from the field, as the Canisius defense made her work for every point.
• Jai Moore paced the Purple Eagles with 20 points, going 8-of-16 from the field. Kaylee Stroemple (12 points) and Jamie Sherburne (11 points) also reached double-figures.
• Turnovers were an issue in the first half for Canisius, as the team gave it away 13 times but limited the giveaways to just seven in the second-frame, totaling 20 for the game.

• Sara Hinriksdottir continues to be the team's most productive point producer, as she is averaging 14.6 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
• Margret Halfdanardottir second on the Griffs' scoring list, averaging 9.4 points per contest.
• Canisius is averaging 55.3 points per game and is allowing 63.6.
• The team is shooting 36.2 percent from the field, while opponents are limited to 37.7.
• Canisius is averaging 35.9 rebounds per game, while opponents are coming down with 40.3.
• Turnovers have been a double-edged sword for the Griffs as the team has forced 14.4 per game from opponents but give it away themselves, 16.5 times.

THE RACE TO 1,000
• Canisius started the season with a pair of juniors working hard to get to the milestone achievement of 1,000 career points, and as we near the end of the campaign it appears one player is within arms reach.
• Sara Hinrinksodttir is now just five points away from 1,000 with one regular season contests and at least one tournament matchup to go.
• Maria Welch is also on the road to 1,000 as she is at 718 points per contest, but injury has put a halt to the progress.Â
• One player that has an outside chance to reach is Margret Halfdanardottir who is now at 942, with at two games remaining.
• The last 1,000 point scorer was Kayla Hoohuli, who accomplished the feat in 2014-15. She tallied 1,190 points.
