Costanzo and Palo Sweep MAAC Diving Weekly Awards

After earning first-place finishes in multiple events against Alfred and Colgate, the Canisius swimming and diving programs earned two MAAC weekly awards, the conference announced Wednesday.

Sophomore Brett Palo was named the MAAC's Male Diver of the Week after having a successful day with top finishes on both boards. The sophomore scored 274.72 points on the 1-meter board and 284.56 on the 3-meter to help the men's squad to a 174-112 victory over Alfred.

Junior Vinnie Costanzo was named the MAAC's Female Diver of the Week. The Lewiston, N.Y., native took top honors in the 3-meter event with a score of 250.42, and then posted a score of 248.09 to secure a first-place finish on the 1-meter board. For Costanzo, the award marks the second time that she has garnered the conference's diver of the week accolades this year. She was also recognized on Oct 24.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs return to action Nov. 10, when the Griffs host St. Bonaventure. That event will be held at the Burt Flickinger Center pool in downtown Buffalo. The meet is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time.
