Canisius sophomore Rebecca Anthone and junior Hannah Graesser finished second and third respectively in the women's 200 freestyle (1:52.04, 1:53.80) on day three of the 2016 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center. The performance helped the Griffs stand pat in third place with 373 points.
Junior Marissa Watroba was another high point for the Golden Griffins, finishing third in the women's 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:05.90.
The women's team also contributed two fifth place finishes, as senior Alex Doody finished the 400 IM in 4:36.41, with freshman Cassie Brousseau getting 58.03 in the 100 back.
The men finished the day in fifth place (267 points) and saw strong performances in the 200 freestyle from sophomore Collin Zapisek (1:42.06) and junior Gustavo Dos Santos (1:42.88).
In the men's 100 breaststroke sophomore Tommy Kirch finished in the eighth position with a time of 59.23.
The fourth and final day of the championship gets underway tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the eight preliminary events, including the men's 3-M diving event.
