GAME RECAP
The visiting Buffalo Bulls grabbed 50 rebounds and stayed perfect at 8-0 with a 65-52 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins Thursday night in the Koessler Athletic Center. The loss dropped Canisius to 2-6 on the year.

Buffalo's JoAnna Smith led all-scorers with 23 points, while Canisius had four players reach double figures, with Sara Hinriksdottir leading the way with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Bulls jumped out to a first-quarter eight point lead, but it appeared the Griffs were able keep pace, going on a 7-0 run to cut the advantage to one, 14-13, with 2:37 left in the quarter.

Buffalo bounced back however, scoring three-unanswered layups to push the score back to 20-13 headed into the intermission.

Buffalo rode the momentum through the second, ending the half up 14, its largest lead of the frame, thanks to a Brittany Morrison, free throw make, giving Buffalo a 37-23 lead at halftime.

The Bulls maintained its double-digit lead throughout the next two stanzas, with Canisius getting to within 11 in the final quarter's closing minutes, but that's as close as the Griffs got, as Buffalo ended the game with a 65-52 victory.

Aside the efforts of Smith, Summer Hemphill recorded the games only double-double, scoring 13 points and taking down a career-best 14 rebounds.

The Griffs once again did a nice job spreading the offense around, as Saliah Serrette (11 points), Sarah Cooley (10 points) and Maria Welch (10 points), joined Hinriksdottir with double-digit point totals.

Canisius red-hot accuracy on Sunday against Monmouth, cooled considerably in the contest, registering 32.7 from the field, and 26.1 percent from long range. Buffalo shot 40.7 from the floor in contrast.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH ZEH
We knew this was a really good basketball team coming in and we were going to have to play well,” head coach Terry Zeh said. “I watched almost every one of their games and I knew that they're a very physical team. We're not ready to answer that way right now. We don't have the strength and physicality to answer that. I thought in the second half we dug a little bit deeper. We got stunned a little when they made a run in the first half and it took us too long to get going again.

GAME NOTES
• Canisius dropped the 44th meeting between the two squads and is now 30-14 all-time against the Bulls.
• Coming off a MAAC Player of the Week nod, Saliah Serrette hit double-figures for the third-straight game and has now done it in four-of-her-last-five contests.
•Sara Hinriksdottir has also been a leader for Canisius' offense, as she has hit double-digit points in six-straight games, and has been the leading scorer in three of the last for four games.

Canisius will start a five-game road swing that runs through the end of the month on Sunday, Dec. 11, when the team travels to play at nationally-ranked Ohio State.
