Former Golden Griffin standout Cory Conacher '11 helped lead Team Canada to the 2015 Spengler Cup Championship over the holiday break.
An annual tournament in Davos, Switzerland, the Spengler Cup is the oldest hockey tournament in the world, being held since 1923. Conacher was named to the All-Star Team during the six-day tournament, helping Team Canada to its first title since 2012.
Overall, Conacher led the championship-winning squad with five points on two goals and three assists, ranking third among all players. During the knockout round, he recorded three points, including the game-winning goal, against host HC Davos in the semifinals before adding one assist in the final versus HC Lugano.
The most decorated players in program history, Conacher set or matched 12 career, single-season and single-game records during his tenure at Canisius. The 2009-10 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, Conacher has played with four different teams in the NHL (Tampa Bay, Ottawa, Buffalo and New York Islanders) and is currently a member of SC Bern in Switzerland.
