Future Canisius rowers Sydney Bichsel and Shannon Pritzker each posted top-20 finishes at the USRowing Youth National Championships, which were held June 12-14 at Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.

Bichsel placed 11th in the nation in the girl's lightweight four event with her team from the Three Rivers Rowing Association in Pittsburg, Pa. Pritzker, who rows with River Rowing out of West Nyack, N.Y., earned an eighth-place finish with her quad in the and she also earned a 14th place finish in the single, just a second off finishing sixth.

"We are excited for the incoming freshmen class -- all of whom are a great fit for Canisius and our program,” Canisius head coach Joel Furtek said. “It is great to see them show the speed that we knew they had, earning berths to the Nationals and then performing so well on the grand stage.”

Bichsel and Pritzker will be joined by fellow freshmen Bridget Lillis and Audrey Rieman on the Griffs roster in the fall. Canisius ended the 2014-15 season by placing fourth overall in the MAAC Championship at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J.
