Senior midfielder Tim Edwards and senior defender Adam Donner were both recognized with All-MAAC accolades on Wednesday night at the conference's annual banquet. Edwards collected first-team All-MAAC honors, while Donner was named to the second team.
With his recognition, Edwards becomes just the second player in school history to earn all-conference accolades in each of his four seasons with the Griffs, joining Kevin Ross (2004-07). The midfielder, who was named to the All-MAAC Second Team as a rookie and earned first-team honors in 2013 and 2014, also is just the second Griff to earn All-MAAC First Team selection in three-straight seasons, joining Adam Jones (2008-10).
Donner is also a three-time honoree after collecting second-team accolades in 2013 and first-team honors in 2014. He is the first Canisius defender in school history to be a three-time all-conference selection.
Edwards led the Griffs in points (30), assists (13), ground balls (70), faceoff percentage (.528) and caused turnovers by a short-stick player (8) during the 2015 campaign. He also finished his career ranked eighth in school history with 145 career points, fourth with 80 career assists and third with a .558 faceoff percentage.
Donner anchored the Canisius defense during his senior campaign, collecting 27 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in 15 games to go along with his first collegiate goal. Overall, Donner totaled 80 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers – ranking third in school history – in 52 career games.
In addition, a total of 15 Griffs were recognized for their work away from the field, Edwards and senior classmates Cody Gould and Austin Romantic, juniors Ryan Bahn, Brendan Barren, Mike Perrino and Jeff Wilson and sophomores Nick Binnert, Paul Burich, Connor Cleary, Jeff Edwards, Adam Huber, Michael Mulvihill, Kael Naylor and Steve Wizniuk were all named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Canisius finished the 2015 season in fifth place in the MAAC standings.
