Men's Lacrosse Adds Brad McCulley to Staff

Canisius head coach Mark Miyashita announced the addition of Rochester Knighthawks forward Brad McCulley to his staff as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.

"We are excited to add Brad McCulley to the coaching staff for the upcoming year as his experience as a player in college and now in the pros with the Knighthawks will be a great benefit for the players and the program," Miyashita said. "Having coached against him while he was a player, Coach McCulley was always a priority on the scouting report. I have seen him as a coach bring that same type of preparation and intensity when developing local players."

A native of Victoria, British Columbia, McCulley recently completed his fifth season in the NLL, appearing in four games for the Knighthawks during the 2026 season while battling injuries.

Drafted ninth overall by the Buffalo Bandits in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft, McCulley spent parts of three seasons with the organization, helping the squad capture the 2023 NLL Championship. In 46 career games split across Buffalo, Vancouver and Rochester, he has amassed 23 goals, 40 assists, 63 points and 78 loose balls.

In addition to time in the NLL, McCulley has spent the past two summers playing for the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. He helped guide the Lakers to a runner-up finish in 2025, collecting 22 goals and 25 assists in 24 regular-season games before pitching in five goals and eight assists in nine playoff contests.

McCulley was also a member of the Western Lacrosse Association's (WLA) Victoria Shamrocks from 2022 to 2024, amassing 38 points (25g, 13a) in 23 games. He made his WLA debut in 2019 for the Langley Thunder, leading the team in scoring with 37 points while recording 20 goals in 18 games as a rookie.

"I'm super excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the coaching staff at Canisius," McCulley said. "Mark (Miyashita) is a great coach with a ton of experience, and I am excited to learn from him and the other coaches. I am looking forward to getting to work with the team and accomplishing our goals this season."

Collegiately, McCulley played four seasons at Robert Morris (2017-20), finishing sixth on the team in goals in each of his final two seasons. A four-time NEC Academic Honor Roll recipient (2017-2020), he helped guide the Colonials to an NEC title in 2018 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

McCulley also brings a variety of youth coaching experience into the position. He has worked as a coach with Performax Lacrosse and served as a coach with the Buffalo Jr. Bandits when he was a member of the Bandits organization.
