Men’s Lacrosse Quartet Recognized as MAAC Announces Regular-Season Awards

Led by senior Alexis Simard, Canisius had four student-athletes recognized as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its men's lacrosse regular-season award winners on Tuesday.

Simard garnered All-MAAC First Team distinction at the defense position while seniors Micah Hanson (Face-off Specialist) and Kaiden Libby (Defensive Midfield) were both All-MAAC Second Team honorees. Freshman Justin Relosky rounded out the quartet of award winners as he was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

Simard garnered All-MAAC distinction for the second consecutive season as he started all 13 games played during the 2026 season and posted career highs with 20 caused turnovers, five goals and six points while also chipping in 31 ground balls. A native of Terrebonne, Quebec, Simard became the program's career caused turnovers leader during the Griffs matchup with Manhattan on April 18. He also posted a personal best seven ground balls during Canisius' non-conference contest against Robert Morris on Feb. 20.

Hanson capped his collegiate career with his second All-MAAC honor after being named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2024. In 14 games this season, Hanson ranked second in the MAAC and 10th nationally with a career-best .618 face-off winning percentage while also placing fourth on the circuit and 12th in the nation in ground balls per game (7.00). The Black Earth, Wis., product recorded double-digit face-off wins in 11 games, highlighted by a program-record 24 wins in the Griffs' regular-season finale against Marist on April 22. He also grabbed double-digit ground balls in three games, highlighted by a season-best 14 in the matchup versus the Red Foxes.

Libby earned All-MAAC recognition for the first time in his career following a senior campaign that saw him appear in 13 games, posting career highs in ground balls (33), caused turnovers (8), goals (3) and points (4). Libby scooped up three-or-more ground balls on five occasions during the 2026 campaign. The Wheaton, Ill., product also matched his career high with two caused turnovers in the Griffs' matchup at Little Three foe St. Bonaventure on March 10.

In his first season with the program, Relosky started all 14 games played, recording 11 goals and six assists for 17 points to go along with 14 ground balls. The Orchard Park, N.Y., product tallied multiple points on four occasions, highlighted by a pair of three-point performances against Mercyhurst (Feb. 17) and Marist (April 22).

In addition to the All-MAAC eams and major individual award winners, the MAAC also announced its MAAC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
