As the Golden Griffins swimming and diving team finished day-three of the 2015 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships the Blue and Gold currently sit in second place for the women with 374 points and fourth place with 331 points on the men's side.
The first two events of the day-three finals at the Flickinger Center were the men's and women's 1000-yard freestyle. The women's 1000-yard freestyle finals saw Marissa Oakey finish in second with a time of 10:25.46 and Sean Wurster claim the fourth fastest time of 9:34.16 and Spencer Bray finished in sixth with a time of 9:36.58.
Following the 1000-yard free finals, the teams competed in the 400-yard IM and on the women's side Marissa Watroba recorded a top-five finish, placing fourth with a time of 4:33.31 and the men's side saw Sam Hansen and Alex LaPoint finish in seventh and eighth place with times of 4:09.57 and 4:09.67.
Canisius' next two events were the men's and women's 100-yard butterfly finals and the women had two top-eight finishers with Alicia Wheeler finishing in third and Meghan Tyler finished in eighth.
The 200-yard Freestyle finals saw freshman Rebecca Anthone continue her great championship, finishing in first in the women's race with a time of 1:52.54 and Hannah Graesser also placed in the top-eight, finishing in sixth with a time of 1:53.70. And on the men's side Collin Zapisek recorded a fifth place finish with a time of 1:42.92.
In the men's and women's 100-yard breaststroke, Wyatt Sintay finished in eighth place with a time of 58.75 and Marissa Watroba recorded a second place finish with a time of 1:06.11. Gregory Staebell finished sixth with a time of 52.02 in the 100-yard backstroke finals and Clare Battaglia finished in seventh, finishing with a final time of 59.39.
Senior Taylor Epstein finished fifth in the women's 3-meter diving contest with a score of 223.85 and the men's and women's 400-yard freestyle relay team's finished in sixth and fourth. The women's team finished in fourth place with a time of 3:56.87 and the men's team finished in sixth place with a time of 3:27.55.
The team will compete in the final day of the Championship tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m.
