Canisius swimming and diving is set to travel to Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday afternoon to compete in a dual-meet against the Cleveland State Vikings. The meet is scheduled to take place in the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium beginning with diving at 3:00 p.m. and swimming at 5:00 p.m.
The Golden Griffins will enter the mid-week dual-meet after splitting a meet with Colgate University on Nov. 22nd. The Griffs men's squad defeated the Raiders by a score of 195-98 and the Blue and Gold women's team fell, 167-129.
Canisius split the dual meet last season with the Vikings, with the men winning and the women losing. The Griffs men's squad will enter the week behind senior diver Eddie Quarantillo, junior Spencer Bray and sophomore Wyatt Sintay.
Quarantillo has been phenomenal on the diving board this season, setting numerous Canisius Pool and School records and being named the MAAC Diver of the Week four times this season already. Bray has continued his strong career for the Blue and Gold, winning the 1000-yard freestyle two times and 500-yard freestyle three times this season. Sintay has also been great for Canisius, including a win in the 100-yard breaststroke against Colgate.
The women's team is led by diver Taylor Epstein, who has won the MAAC women's Diver of the Week award twice this season, Hannah Graesser who won the 50-yard freestyle and set a pool record in the 100-yard freestyle against Colgate and Alicia Wheeler who won the 100 and 200-yard fly contests against Colgate as well.
After the meet against Cleveland State on Tuesday, the Blue and Gold will travel to Fredonia, N.Y., to compete against Fredonia State on December 13th.
