The Canisius swimming and diving teams swept SUNY Geneseo this afternoon in a dual-meet at the Koessler Athletic Center. The Griffs men's squad defeated the Knights by a final of 147-96 and the women defeated the visiting squad by a score of 137-105.
This is the second consecutive season where the Griffs have swept the Knights. The team defeated the visiting SUNY school last season by two identical scores of 144-99.
The Golden Griffins women's team started the meet off with a big win, as the women's 200-yard medley relay team of Sara Nungesser, Marissa Watroba, Alicia Wheeler and Hannah Graesser won their race with a time of 1:51.96. Freshman Rebecca Anthone won two events this afternoon, as the freshman finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Marissa Watroba won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.81 and diver Taylor Epstein won her two diving events, the 1-meter and 3-meter with scores of 212.10 and 231.15.
The men's squad was once again led by senior diver Eddie Quarantillo who won the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions with scores of 258.90 and 279.95. Freshman Collin Zapisek won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:01.90 and finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Spencer Bray and Tommy Kirch also won events for the Griffs, as Kirch won the 100-yard freestyle and Bray won the 500-yard freestyle.
The Griffs will have off for the next two weeks and then the team will host Western New York rival St. Bonaventure at the Koessler Athletic Center on Nov. 15.
