Canisius
College sophomore Jamie Ruttle (Burlington,
Ontario) was named to the Jesuit Basketball Honor Roll for the week of Jan.
30 through Feb 5.
Ruttle
averaged 20.5 points per game, shooting 71.4 percent from the field (including
87.5 percent on two-point shots), to go along with 7.0 rebounds per game and two
blocked shots in two games last week. The sophomore set a career high with 24
points at Loyola, making all 10 of her two-point field-goal attempts and
becoming the first Golden Griffin with 10 two-point baskets since Lonnie Brown
on Feb. 6, 2004. Ruttle then had 17 points in the one-point win at Niagara,
pulling down six or more rebounds for the ninth time in the last 15 games.
Ruttle
leads Canisius with an 11.4 points per game average, which is tied for 10th
in the conference. The 6-foot-3 forward is shooting 57.8 percent on two-point
shots in the last 15 games and has scored in double figures 13 times this
season.
Ruttle
is the second Golden Griffin to be named to the Jesuit Basketball Honor Roll,
as junior Ashley Durham received the
honor on Jan. 18.
Canisius continues its four-game road stretch at
Rider University on Friday, with game time in Lawrenceville, N.J. set for 7
p.m.
