RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan
College shot 63 percent in the opening 20 minutes and forced 29 turnovers defeating
the Canisius College women's basketball team 73-51 in the Draddy Gymnasium on
Friday. The Golden Griffins fall to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference.

Wilkes each had nine points while junior Melissa Gardner had five rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.
"We
continue to struggle with coming out with an intensity necessary to win
conference games," Canisius Terry Zeh
said. "Give Manhattan credit, they got open looks and made their shots, but we
didn't come out with the energy required to even have a chance at winning a
road MAAC game."

a 15-4 lead just over four minutes into the game. The Jaspers stayed hot for
the first half of the opening 20 minutes, also draining six of their first
seven 3-pointers. Manhattan shot 63 percent in the first half, including
7-for-10 from behind the arc, and built a 45-24 halftime lead. Manhattan
extended its lead to start the second half as Schyanne Halfkenny scored the
opening nine points of the half for the Jaspers, with her last basket giving
Manhattan a 54-24 lead.
Halfkenny
led all players with 22 points, including 4-for-5 shooting on 3-pointers.
Manhattan shot 54.3 percent for the game and 10-for-18 from behind the arc.
Canisius
wraps up its weekend road trip on Sunday, when the Golden Griffins face
