Canisius
College seniors Julius Coles and Greg Logins were recently named to the
MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced. To be eligible for the
MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.2 grade
point average (on a 4.0 scale) and must be at least a sophomore in academic
standing.
Coles, who
earned his undergraduate degree in communications from the College last May,
holds a 3.56 GPA as he works toward his master's degree in sport administration
at the College. The Harlem, N.Y., native ranked third on the 2010-11 roster
with his 10.9 points per game, and he closed out his career in Blue and Gold as
just the fourth player in school history to hit 150-or more career 3-point
field goals. A four-year letterwinner for the Griffs, Coles is one of 32
players in school history to reach 1,000 career points as he wrapped up his
collegiate career with 1,212 career points.
Logins
finished his career as one of five players in school history to score more than
1,200-career points and pull down more than 750-career rebounds. A three-time
team captain, Logins was a two-time Preseason All-MAAC selection and he
finished his senior season ranked second on the team in scoring average (11.8
points per game) and rebounding average (6.0 per contest). The Sodus, N.Y.,
native earned his undergraduate degree in physical education in three years and
he has served as a member of the Canisius SAAC committee for the last two years.
Logins currently boasts a 3.48 GPA as he works toward his master's degree in
sport administration.
The men's basketball team
finished the 2010-11 season with a 15-15 overall record and a 9-9 mark in MAAC
play. This marks the second-straight year where the Griffs have recorded 15
wins in a season, the first time the program has reached that win total in
back-to-back seasons since the 1995-96 and 1996-97 campaigns.
