Three members of the Canisius College women's basketball program received end-of-the-year awards at the 2009 Citizens Bank MAAC Championships Banquet on Thursday night. Junior Ellie Radke was named the MAAC Sixth Person of the Year. Junior Brittan? Russell was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Terry Zeh was named The Rock MAAC Coach of the Year.

Radke is the first Golden Griffin to be named the MAAC Sixth Person of the Year in the eight-year history of the award. The 6-foot forward has appeared in 25 games on the season, with 21 of those appearances coming off the bench.

Russell becomes the second player in program history to be named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year as J?nel Stevens won the award in 2004. Russell ranks third in the league in steals per game (2.5) and has 232 steals in her career. The 5-foot-5 guard is the third player in program history to lead the team in steals each of her first three seasons at Canisius

Zeh is the third coach in program history to be named MAAC Coach of the Year and first since Kara Rehbaum won the award following the 1994-95 season. Zeh has led Canisius to 22 wins this season, the most since the program went to the Division I era. Canisius has won a program-record 11 home games and program-record 11 road games. The Griffs went 14-4 in the MAAC for the third time under the fifth-year coach.

Five Golden Griffins earned spots on the MAAC all-Academic Team. Senior Amanda Cavo received the honor for the third consecutive year. Radke, senior Marie Warner and sophomores Micayla Drysdale and Tauralee Tenn received the honor for the first time.
