Bucknell's Molly Creamer Spoils Women's Hoops

Canisius College junior guard Jenel Stevens tied a career-high with 29 points after shooting 13-for-16 from the field and senior center Jes Butler added 21 points, but it was not enough to keep the Golden Griffins' winning ways rolling Wednesday night as the team fell to Bucknell 100-91 in a non-conference match up in Lewisburg, Pa. Canisius is now 2-1 on the year while Bucknell improves to 1-3 overall.

Three Bucknell players posted double figures in the scoring column, led by Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Molly Creamer.

The senior guard scored a game-high 31 points and went a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line. Bison forward Kate Franks added 28 points in the win for Bucknell after shooting 7-for-12 from behind the three-point line. Junior forward Desire Almind added 22 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

Stevens knocked down a three-pointer with 10:49 showing on the clock in the second half to give Canisius a 74-69 lead. From there, Bucknell went on an 11-0 run over the 2:10 to drive the score to 83-74 in favor of the host Bison. Stevens took a Daakiea McFadden pass and scored a layup to cut the Griff deficit to 83-76, but that was as close as the Blue and Gold would come for the rest of the evening.
Junior Lonnie Brown had 10 points and six boards in the loss, while McFadded dished out a career-high 10 assists.

Canisius will return to action Saturday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. when the team travels to UM-Baltimore County.
