Forcucci Garners MAAC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Ella Forcucci was named the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday

Forcucci garnered her eighth weekly conference award of her career, scoring eight goals over two games this past week. Forcucci found the back of the net for the five times against Niagara on Wednesday, marking the fifth time this season that the freshman has scored five-or-more goals. She added three more scores on Saturday in Canisius' comeback victory over Marist. Forcucci holds the program record for the most goals scored by a freshman while also leading all freshmen nationwide with 46 goals.

Canisius continues conference play with a contest at Sacred Heart on Wednesday. The opening draw between the Golden Griffins and Pioneers is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn. and the contest will stream live on ESPN+.
