Forcucci Tabbed Canisius Female Rookie of the Year

Canisius women's lacrosse midfielder Ella Forcucci has been chosen as the 2025-26 Canisius Female Rookie of the Year, athletic department officials announced on Friday.

Forcucci was selected in a fan vote conducted on GoGriffs.com. The other finalists were Madi Cowan (volleyball), Charlotte Keenan (cross country/track), Jaslynn Kural (acrobatics and tumbling) and Chloe Tseros (women's soccer).

A native of Orchard Park, Forcucci enjoyed a breakout freshman campaign that saw her lead the Golden Griffins in scoring as she set program records for the most goals (51) and points (67) by a first-year player.

The MAAC Rookie of the Year and an All-MAAC First Team selection, Forcucci appeared in all 17 games for Canisius during the 2026 season, making 13 starts. She won eight MAAC weekly awards during the regular season, garnering rookie of the week and offensive player of the
week honors four times each from the league during the campaign.

Nationally, Forcucci led all first-year players in goals per game (3.00) as she finished the campaign with three-or-more goals on 12 occasions, including each of her first seven career contests. She also was third among Division I rookies in points per game (3.94), registering multiple points on 13 occasions throughout the 2026 season.

The nominees for the 2025-26 Canisius Male Athlete of the Year will be announced on Monday, June 15.
