Forcucci Crowned MAAC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Ella Forcucci was named the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Forcucci won her ninth weekly conference award of her career with four goals and an assist in Canisius' 20-10 victory over Rider on Saturday. Forcucci completed her hat trick in the third quarter when she scored her 50th goal of the season.

She has tallied hat tricks in 12 of the Golden Griffins' 16 games this season and reached five goals in five of those outings.

Forcucci etched her name into the Canisius record books and holds the program record for points and goals by a freshman. Her 51 goals this season also ranks eighth all-time in goals in a season by a Griff.

Outside of the program ranks, Forcucci is the highest scoring freshman in the nation, averaging 3.19 goals per game.

Canisius begins post season play in the First Round of the 2026 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship when they host Quinnipiac on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex and the game will stream live on ESPN+.

Tickets are required for entry and are available to be purchased later this week.
