Acrobatics and Tumbling Splits Tri Meet

Canisius posted a score of 222.870, finishing behind No. 8 Mary Hardin-Baylor (258.300) and ahead of host Buffalo State (211.730) Friday evening at the Sports Arena in Buffalo, N.Y.

With a win and a loss, the Golden Griffins sit at a 4-2 record overall, meanwhile, Mary Hardin Baylor improves to 4-3 and Buffalo State falls to 1-5.

Canisius started off the day recording 89.45 points in the first half and followed with 133.420 points in the second half to round out the fifth time this season that the Griffs have reached the 220 point plateau.

In the opening compulsory event, Canisius scored 35.20 with a 40.00 start value, earning 8.65 in acro, 9.25 in pyramid, 9.25 in toss, and 8.05 in tumbling.

The acro portion saw Canisius score a total of 25.80 points which was made up of an 8.40 in the 5-element heat, 8.35 in the 6-element heat, and 9.05 in the 7-element heat.

The Blue and Gold tallied 28.45 points in the pyramid event with three scores above 9.2, checking in at 9.25 in the inversion heat, 9.65 in the synchronized heat, and 9.55 in the open heat.

After adding 25.00 points in the toss event, Canisius rounded out the non-team portion with 38.850 points in the tumbling section. In the Team Event, Canisius scored 69.57 points out of 110.00 start value.

Canisius finishes its inaugural season as they play host to No. 9 Gannon on Apr. 9. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start inside the Koessler Athletic Center and will also be available on the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network.
