Acrobatics and Tumbling Remains Perfect with Road Win

The Canisius acrobatics and tumbling team picked up its second consecutive victory of its inaugural season with a 233.625-205.025 triumph over Wheeling on Sunday afternoon at the Alma Grace McDonough Center in Wheeling, W. Va.

The Golden Griffins improved to 2-0 overall with the 28.6 point victory. Wheeling, meanwhile, fell to 1-3 in their fourth outing of the season.

Canisius bested Wheeling right off the bat, building a 35.20-27.00 advantage in the compulsory events. The Griffs' scored a meet-high 9.550 in the pyramid heat to help grow their early lead.

The succeeding rounds saw Canisius continue to grow their lead, highlighted by a 25.70 in acro and a 26.15 in pyramid. The Griffs' strongest optional event came in toss (24.20), including an 8.550 in the open heat.

In the tumbling category, Canisius totaled 43.925 points, paced by an 8.150 in the 6-element pass and a 7.975 in the aerial pass.

The Blue and Gold capped the afternoon with a 78.450 in the Team Event to secure the road victory.

Canisius returns to the Mountain State for a midweek duel with West Liberty on Wednesday evening. The meet is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at the ARSC Center in West Liberty, W. Va.
