Following a win over Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara on Tuesday night, the Canisius volleyball team continues its five match homestand Friday and Saturday with a pair of Metro Conference contests against Saint Peter's and Rider.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• Canisius opens its home weekend with an overall record 4-18 and a conference mark of 3-9 after the Golden Griffins defeated Niagara in four sets Oct. 27.
• The 3-1 win over the Purple Eagles gave the Blue and Gold their first regular-season series sweep of their longtime rivals since 2022, and it also served as the Griffs' third-straight win over Niagara, dating back to last season.
• In the win over Niagara, the Golden Griffins matched a season-high 22 block assists, 10 of which came from redshirt-freshman McKenna Corcoran.
• Corcoran's 10 block assists in Tuesday's match set a program record for block assists by a Griff in a four-set match. Previously, eight different Griffs had nine block assists in a four-set contest, with the most recent occurrence coming during the 2013 campaign.
• As a team, Canisius ranks second in the Metro Conference with its 1.87 service aces per set. The Griffs had seven aces in the win over Niagara.
• Senior libero Brenda Reynaga ranks third in the conference in digs per set (4.40) after recording 19 digs her last time out.
• Junior Emma Isroff holds the team lead in points with 285.5, which ranks seventh in the Metro.
• Freshman setter Kenslie Warmbrodt collected 26 assists on Tuesday, adding to her team leading 447 assists on the season. Tuesday marked Warmbrodt's 13th match with 20 or more assists in her freshman campaign.
• Saint Peter's enters Friday looking to break an eight-game losing skid following a 4-1 start to conference play. The Peacocks are currently 5-20 overall and 4-8 in Metro action.
• Peacock's senior Karolina Rodriguez Mendez ranks second in the Metro in hitting percentage at .387.
• Canisius will look to even the regular-season series with Rider on Saturday, after falling in five-sets earlier this season.
