Volleyball Hosts Rival Niagara in Midweek Matchup

The Canisius volleyball team opens a five-match homestand on Tuesday as it welcomes Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara in a Metro Conference matchup.

Opening serve for the contest between the Golden Griffins and Purple Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m., at the Koessler Athletic Center in downtown Buffalo. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
•
Canisius enters play with an overall record of 3-18 and a Metro Conference record of 2-9 after losing at Siena in five sets on Saturday.
•
Niagara is 2-17 overall and 1-10 in conference action, the Purple Eagles were swept by Marist in their last time out.
•
As a team, Canisius ranks second in the conference in aces per set (1.88). Junior Emma Isroff leads the Metro Conference in service aces per set during conference play, racking up 34 aces in 45 sets through 11 conference matches.
• Senior libero Brenda Reynaga leads the Griffs and ranks third in the Metro in digs per set (4.39). Reynaga has posted 20-or-more digs on six occasions this season, including a 24-dig performance in the team's most recent outing at Siena on Oct. 24.
•
Redshirt-freshman McKenna Corcoran currently leads the team with 66 total blocks, a total that places her eighth in the conference in that category.
•
Tuesday's match will be the second match between Canisius and Niagara this season. The Griffs swept the first meeting against the Purple Eagles at the Gallagher Center on Sept. 29 (25-17, 26-24, 25-21). Isroff lead Canisius with 10 kills while senior Julia Lenik added nine and fellow senior Azoria Davis pitched in eight.
•
Canisius currently holds a 61-55-2 advantage over Niagara in the all-time series. The Griffs have won three of the last five contests against the Purple Eagles, dating back to the 2025 campaign.

UP NEXT
