Swimming and Diving Heads to Le Moyne for Final Dual Meet of the Season

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Syracuse, N.Y., on Saturday to take on Le Moyne in the Golden Griffins' final dual meet in advance of the 2026 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Last season, the Griffs and the Dolphins split a dual meet at the Burt Flickinger Center pool in downtown Buffalo. This year's competition will be held at Le Moyne's Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool.

Canisius is coming off a dual meet loss at the hand of longtime rival Niagara last Saturday. In that event, the women were led by sophomore Daphne Mead, who captured first place in the women's 100 butterfly with a time of 59.04. Mead also contributed to a second-place finish in the women's 200 medley relay, teaming up with juniors Cassandra Ercoli, Leyna Swanson and Evie Leighton to post a time of 1:49.66.

In the men's meet, junior Elliot Somers took second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.98. Junior Luke Critchlow claimed third in the men's 1000 free (10:09.87), sophomore Cameron Upchurch placed third in the 50 free (22.08), freshman Peyton Gilliland finished third in the 100 fly (52.29) and senior Sam Vidal turned in a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 (58.91) and 200 (2:11.52) breast.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in action Feb. 11-14, at the 2026 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
