Women's Basketball Announces 2025-26 MAAC Schedule

FULL 2025-26 SCHEDULE | BUY/RENEW SEASON TICKETS
The Canisius women's basketball program is set to open their 2025-26 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule at home on Dec. 19 against longtime league rival Saint Peter's, the conference office announced Monday.

The announcement of the MAAC schedule completes the entire slate for the 2025-26 season. Canisius head coach Tiffany Swoffard announced the Golden Griffins non-conference schedule on Aug. 14. To read that release, CLICK HERE.

For the second-straight year, the MAAC schedule will be unbalanced. Each school in the 13-team league will play eight conference opponents twice (one at home, one on the road) and four other conference rivals one time, each. Per MAAC scheduling policy, each school is guaranteed to play its closest geographic opponent, but the rest of the opponents that a school plays only one time were chosen at random. For this season, Canisius will not host Marist or Merrimack, and the Griffs will not play road games at either Rider or Saint Peter's.

Season tickets for the combined home men's and women's basketball schedule are on sale now through the Canisius Ticket Office by CLICKING HERE. Fans can also purchase their season ticket plans, which cost $230 for reserved and $130 for general admission, by calling the ticket office at (716) 888-TIXX.

Following the team's conference opener against Saint Peter's at home on Dec. 19, Canisius will close out the first weekend of conference play against Siena (Dec. 21), which will also serve as the team's final game of the 2025 calendar year. Each team within the conference receives two byes throughout league action. Canisius' league bye dates are Dec. 29 and Jan. 19.

Per league scheduling rules, Canisius will square off with Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara two times during the season. The initial meeting between the Griffs and Purple Eagles is set for Jan. 14 at the Gallagher Center. Canisius will host Niagara three weeks later on Feb. 3. The Griffs swept the 2024-25 season series with a 70-53 road victory on Jan. 30 followed by a comeback in the final minute en route to a 48-46 win on Feb. 11.

The home game against Niagara opens a stretch where the Griffs will play four of their final eight games at home. After hosting Quinnipiac (Feb. 5), Canisius will head on the road and play at Iona (Feb. 12) and Manhattan (Feb. 14). The Griffs' final two home games are set for Feb. 19 against Rider and Feb. 21 when Mount St. Mary's comes to town. The Blue and Gold will round out the regular season conference schedule with a pair of road games at Merrimack (Feb. 26) and Quinnipiac (Feb. 28).

The 2026 MAAC Women's Basketball Championship tournament will be held March 5-9 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The top-10 teams in the 13-team conference will qualify for the league's annual postseason event, with the winner securing the conference's berth into the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
