Ercoli and Price Tabbed Student-Athletes of the Month for November

Canisius swimming and diving junior Cassandra Ercoli and hockey sophomore Hunter Price have been chosen as the Milk for Life Canisius Student-Athletes of the Month for November, the athletic department announced on Thursday.

A product of Montreal, Quebec, Ercoli has posted seven top-three finishes for the Golden Griffins this season, including a trio of runner-up results. She swam a season-best time of 1:07.96 to claim second in the 100 breast against SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 24 before posting a second-place finish in the 100 breast in a dual meet against Little Three foe St. Bonaventure on Nov. 7.

A journalism major, Ercoli was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and the MAAC Academic Honor Roll in 2025.

Price, a native of Calgary, Alberta, enjoyed a breakout November for the Golden Griffins, appearing in all seven games and finishing the month tied for the team lead in points with five (2g-3a). He notched his first collegiate goal against Mercyhurst on Nov. 21, kick starting a four-game point streak that also saw him find the back of the net in the series opener against Air Force on Nov. 28.

A Finance major at Canisius, Price was named an Atlantic Hockey America Student-Athlete of the Year after compiling a cumulative 4.0 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year. He was also named a Krampade All-American Scholar.

The spring 2025 semester saw all 20 of Canisius' varsity intercollegiate athletic programs posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.10 or higher. A total of 18 programs recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, while the school's 401 active student-athletes combined to post a cumulative GPA of 3.46 for the term.

The previous semester also saw a total of 64 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The 64 student-athletes highlighted a group of 354 student-athletes to post a term GPA of 3.0 or higher, representing 88.0 percent of the University's student-athlete population.
In November, the NCAA announced that the Canisius athletic department posted a 97 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the latest data released by the NCAA.

The Golden Griffins' 97 percent GSR, representing incoming student-athletes from 2015-16 through 2018-19, tied them with Marist for the highest Graduation Success Rate amongst institutions from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

The data also showed that all of Canisius' 16 varsity programs posted a GSR score of 90 or higher while a total of 12 programs recorded perfect 100 percent graduation rates: men's basketball, men's cross country/track, golf, hockey, men's soccer, women's basketball, women's cross country/track, rowing, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and volleyball.
