Men’s Basketball Adds Dorsett Mulcahy for 2026-27 Season

Canisius head coach Jim Christian announced today (Nov. 13) that Dorsett Mulcahy has signed to join the Golden Griffin men's basketball program for the 2026-27 season.

Mulcahy, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound shooting guard, is currently in his senior year at Gill St. Bernard's School (GSB) in Gladstone, N.J. A native of Bayonne, N.J., Mulcahy plays for the New Jersey Panthers on the club circuit.

"We are excited to add Dorsett to our basketball program," Christian said. "He comes from an outstanding high school program at Gill St. Bernard's School, and he comes from a basketball family. His older brother played Division I basketball, so he understands and appreciates the effort it takes to be successful at this level on the floor and in the classroom."

In 2024-25, Mulcahy averaged 9.6 points per game while helping the Knights to a 22-7 record and a Somerset County (N.J.) championship. In his sophomore season (2023-24), he was good for 10.3 points and 2.0 assists per contest as GSB reached as high as No. 18 in the NJ.com state rankings.

Mulcahy's scholastic head coach, veteran Mergin Sina, was a college teammate of Jim Christian at Rhode Island. Since 2019, six other GSB graduates have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I level, including Dorsett's older brother, Paul, who played four years at Rutgers before closing his career at Washington.

This year's edition of the Griffs are 2-2 on the season after the team defeated Mercyhurst 58-55 Nov. 12, at home. Canisius will return to action Nov. 17, with a non-league road game at High Point.
