Swimming and Diving Heads to Rochester for Tri Meet

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action Saturday as they travel to Rochester for a tri meet against the University of Rochester and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Siena.

Start time for the meet is slated for noon at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center on the campus of the University of Rochester.
The Golden Griffins opened the 2025-26 season last weekend with a dual meet against league rival Marist.

Sophomore Daphne Mead earned three victories to pace the Canisius women, sweeping the 100 (58.41) and 200 (2:08.21) back while cruising to victory in the 200 IM (2:08.57), finishing nearly five seconds in front of the next closest swimmer.

Junior Evie Leighton earned a first-place finish in the 200 free (1:56.73) and swam a leg of the 400 free relay that secured a win with a time of 3:44.13.

On the men's side, senior Toby Mayfield won two events, placing first in both the 100 and 200 fly. Junior Elliot Somers claimed the 100 back (51.79) while sophomore Giovanni Poggio won the men's 200 IM (1:57.82).

In the diving competition, freshman Leo Rodriguez won both the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

UP NEXT
Canisius opens the home portion of its schedule Oct. 24 when it entertains Geneseo in a 6 p.m. meet at the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo.
