Men's Soccer adds Trio of Newcomers to Roster

Canisius men's soccer head coach Michael Tanke announced Tuesday that Sydney Aggrey (Culpepper, Va.), Griffen Dehm (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), and Romero Nicolazzo (Beamsville, Ontario) have been added to the roster for the 2023 season.

"This August we welcome Sydney Aggrey, Griffen Dehm, Romero Nicolazzo and their families to Canisius Men's Soccer," Tanke said. "It is our goal for every recruiting class to leave Canisius as better players and better people four or five years from now upon graduation. We believe this group is up for the challenge. We cannot wait to begin working with these guys on a daily basis."

Sydney Aggrey – Culpepper, VA – DC United

"Sydney is a No. 9 coming to us from DC United's academy. He scored quite a few goals for their U16 MLS NEXT National Championship team a few years back. Stylistically, he's a tweener. He holds the ball up well, but also likes to run in behind. He's got a good mentality towards defending as well."

Griffen Dehm – Baldwinsville, NY – RNY FC MLS NEXT

"Griffen brings a lot of the intangibles we look for when evaluating players. He embraces running, physical contact, has no ego and celebrates defensive plays. He's an old-school defender who can physically cover a lot of ground."

Romero Nicolazzo – Beamsville, Ontario – St. Catharines Club Roma

"Romero is a local kid from just over the border who can play any of the attacking positions. He scored double-digit goals while only playing in the second half of the 2022-2023 MLS NEXT season. Like Sydney, Romero embraces the defensive side of the game as well."
