Hockey Places 24 on AHA All-Academic Team, Duo Named AHA Student-Athletes of the Year

The Canisius hockey team had a total of 24 student-athletes recognized for their work in the classroom on Thursday as Atlantic Hockey America announced its All-Academic Team for the 2023-24 season.
 
The AHA All-Academic Team honors those student-athletes who posted a GPA of 3.0 or above for both semesters of the 2023-24 academic year.
 
Canisius was tied with RIT for the fifth-most student-athletes recognized. Bentley led the way with 30 All-Academic Team honorees, followed by AIC (29), Robert Morris (28) and Sacred Heart (28).
 
Senior defenseman Cody Schiavon and sophomore forward Hunter Andrew garnered additional accolades as they were two of the 11 student-athletes that were selected as AHA Student-Athletes of the Year after both posted a 4.0 GPA during the 2023-24 academic year.
 
Schiavon was a two-time time honoree after receiving the award last year while Andrew is a first-time honoree. Canisius was one of three schools with multiple AHA Student-Athlete of the Year selections, joining AIC and Robert Morris on that list.
