Women's Lacrosse Recognized as IWLCA Academic Honor Squad

The Canisius women's lacrosse program was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an Academic Honor Squad for the 2023 campaign, the association announced Wednesday. The Golden Griffins have earned the honor every year since the 2009 season.

To qualify for this prestigious honor, the team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team grade point average for the academic year. In all, 287 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA earned the honor.

Canisius had 12 student-athletes tabbed to the IWLCA Division I Honor Roll. Seniors Emme Foote, Camryn Lucarelli and Paige Stachura earned the honor for the second consecutive season, while juniors Riley Davis, Meghan Ellis, Jill Galanti, Steph Herrnreiter, Maddie Mazur, Caroline Netti, Claire Netti, Avery Penoyer and Catherine Wall were all first-time honorees. To be eligible for the individual honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student, and have earned a cumulative academic grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
