Matt Duffy Earns Fourth MAAC Pitcher of the Week Award

For the second straight week and fourth time this season, junior Matt Duffy was named the Rawlings MAAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Duffy had a career day on Friday versus Saint Peter's, fanning a career-high 14 batters while passing both Devon Stewart and Canisius Hall of Famer Shane Davis in the career strikeouts list.

The Burlington, Ontario, native now sits second in program history with 238 career punch outs.

In his start against the Peacocks, Duffy was perfect through 4.1 innings and took a no-hitter into the sixth. On the day, the righty allowed the lone hit in seven shutout innings of work.

In five starts in league play, Duffy has posted a 1.06 ERA in 34 innings while striking out 48 batters and holding opponents to a .138 batting average.

His 84 strikeouts during the season ranks him 13th in the country while the Canadian also ranks 18th with a 12.89 strikeouts-per-nine innings ratio.

Canisius returns to action on Friday when it begins a three-game series against MAAC foe Fairfield. First pitch from Connecticut is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the contest airing live on the Stags Sports Network.
