• First Pitch
The Canisius softball team is set to play in its third straight MAAC Softball Championship game when it squares off against No. 3 Marist. First pitch from the Demske Sports Complex is slated for 11:00 a.m. with the game airing on ESPN+.

In order for the Golden Griffins to be crowned champions, they will have to defeat the Red Foxes twice on the day.

• Last Time Out
Canisius lost to Marist, 6-5, in the Semifinal Round on Friday, sending the team to the Elimination Bracket.

The Griffs then had to face No. 6 Iona, who had eliminated No. 4 Fairfield in the previous contest.

Canisius jumped on Iona, scoring all four runs in the first three innings of the contest.

That would be all the run support junior Megan Giese would need as she found her groove, allowing just two runs to come across in the fifth. The MAAC Pitcher of the Year recorded her second double-digit strikeout game of the tournament, punching out 11 batters as the Blue and Gold defeated the Gaels, 4-2, to advance to the Championship Game.

• Speedsters
Junior Christie McGee-Ross' stolen base versus Iona marked the team's 109th of the season, which bests last season's program-record 108 steals.

McGee-Ross now has 34 stolen bases on the season, which passes Lauren Hope's 33 in 2010 for the fourth-most in a single season. Her 65 career swiped bags passed Lizzy Gatto (2009-12) for the fourth-most in program history.

Sophomore Alyssa Cloutier stole her 20th base of the campaign on Friday, becoming the eighth different Griff to achieve the mark in a season.

• MAAC Champions
Canisius is looking to earn its 14th MAAC Softball Championship in program history and go back-to-back since the team won three straight titles 2007-09.

Last season, the Griffs took down Siena, 4-0, to advance to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
