Miotto Recognized as AHA Player of the Week

Senior forward Ryan Miotto has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association's Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.

A native of Thorold, Ontario, Miotto received his first career AHA weekly honor after he tallied a team-high four points on three goals and an assist to help Canisius sweep Holy Cross on the road and clinch home ice in the quarterfinals of the AHA Postseason.

He began the weekend by scoring a shorthanded goal in the Griffs' 3-0 victory over the Crusaders on Friday before registering a career-high-equaling three points on two goals and an assist in the series finale, a 6-3 Canisius victory. Miotto got the Griffs on the board with a power-play goal in the second period before netting the game-winning goal on a deflection with 4:48 remaining in the third period. He closed out his evening with the primary assist on linemate Keaton Mastrodonato's empty-net goal to seal the game.

The fourth seed for the 2023 Atlantic Hockey Postseason, Canisius opens the tournament with a best-of-three quarterfinal round series against No. 5 seed Army March 3-5 at LECOM Harborcenter. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday, 7:35 p.m. on Saturday and if necessary, 5 p.m. on Sunday.
