Sisi Eleko tabbed for Fourth MAAC Weekly Award

Freshman forward Sisi Eleko was tabbed the Hercules Tires MAAC Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is Eleko's fourth weekly honor this season and fifth overall for the Golden Griffins.
 
Canisius men's basketball redshirt freshman, Tahj Staveskie, also earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on Monday. This is the first instance since Dec. 27, 2021, that a Canisius men's and women's basketball player won a MAAC weekly award in the same week when Cheyenne Stubbs was named the circuits Rookie of the Week and Scott Hitchon was named Player of the Week.
 
The Montreal, Quebec, native had an impressive week, averaging 10.0 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 10-of-13 (.769) from the floor across two games. Against Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara on Feb. 15, Eleko tallied eight points and grabbed three rebounds. Her best game of the week came against Fairfield on Feb. 17, as she finished with 12 points, two rebounds and one block in the Griffs 73-60 victory.
 
Eleko and the Griffs are back in action on Feb. 23 as they head to the Garden State to face Saint Peter's. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with the game streaming on ESPN+.
