Indoor Track Closes out the Regular Season at RIT Friday Meet

Paced by a pair of first-place finishes, the Canisius men's and women's indoor teams closed out the regular season with an appearance in the RIT Friday Meet at the Golden Field House in Rochester, N.Y.
 
For the men, junior Ronan McDonald won the men's 800-meter run, posting a time of 1:59.20 to best St. Bonaventure's Aiden Scattergood by more than a second (2:00.28). Freshman Braden Tent (2:02.23), junior Patrick Garland (2:03.71) and junior Collin Rice (2:03.80) finished 7-8-9 to give the Griffs four top-10 finishers in the race.
 
Junior Kevin Board claimed first place in the men's 1,000-meter race, turning in a time of 2:37.48 to finish nearly three seconds in front of Kieran Ryan from St. Bonaventure (2:40.44).
 
The men's 1,600-meter relay, featuring Board, McDonald, Rice, Tent, graduate Richard Moore, junior Royce Breslawski and freshman Joseph Pivarunas, took home second place with a time of 3:37.06, just under two one-hundredths of a second behind first-place Hamilton (3:36.88).
 
Nick Dauphinee recorded a sixth-place result in the men's 1-mile run, fashioning a time of 4:35.05. Breslawski (4:46.30/12th) and Tent (4:49.00/15th) gave the Griffs a trio of top-15 finishes in the event.
 
On the women's side, sophomore Taylor Heschke took fourth in the women's 1-mile run, crossing the finish line in 5:32.11.
 
Junior Stephanie Seyfang placed fifth in the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.16 after finishing in seventh place in the prelims with a time of 10.04.
 
Junior Maura Jordan claimed sixth in the women's 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:33.80.
 
Senior Rylee Campeau took home ninth place in the women's 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 11:31.46.
 
Sophomore Sarah Pawlow (3:31.69) and junior Brynne Ketchum (3:32.62) turned in a pair of top-five finishes in the women's 1,000-meter run as the tandem placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
Up Next
Canisius now turns its focus to the 2023 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event takes place Feb. 18-19 at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York, N.Y.
