Men’s Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2024 Season

Canisius men's lacrosse head coach Mark Miyashita announced on Tuesday that seniors Erik Allen, Jacob Pahnke and Jackson Webster and junior Patrick Mitchell will serve as team captains for the 2024 season.

"This group have been voted by their teammates to serve as captains for the upcoming season," Miyashita said. "Each of them has demonstrated their leadership strengths on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Our staff is excited to help them develop as leaders for this group and look forward to seeing them grow throughout the year."

In his fourth season with the program, Allen has taken part in 28 games with the Golden Griffins, recording two points (1g/1a) while also contributing 23 ground galls and six caused turnovers. A native of Carmel, Ind., Allen appeared in all 15 games for Canisius last season, posting 16 ground balls and five caused turnovers while also chipping in one assist.

Pahnke has played in 18 games during his time on Main Street, recording 38 ground balls and seven caused turnovers while also chipping in one goal. A product of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Pahnke missed the entire 2023 season due to injury. During the 2022 campaign, Pahnke took part in eight contests, recording one goal and recording nine ground balls.

A four-year member of the program, Webster has played in 33 games for the Griffs, recording six goals, six assists, 12 points, 13 ground balls and one caused turnover. Last season, the Georgetown, Ontario product played in 13 games, notching five points (3g/2a) and seven ground balls. All three of his goals in 2023 came during man-up situations for the Griffs.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Mitchell has appeared in 24 games during his first two seasons with the Griffs, recording 15 goals and six assists for 21 points while also scooping up eight ground balls. As a sophomore, Mitchell appeared in all 15 games, recording 11 goals and six assists for 17 points.
