Rowing Travels to the Steel City for the Yinzer Cup

• On the Water
The rowing team continues their fall season when they head to Moon Township, Pa., to race in the Yinzer Cup. This is the fourth straight Fall season that the Golden Griffins have raced in the event.
 
• Success at the Yinzer Cup
Last year at the Yinzer Cup, the novice 8 shell, comprised of Gianna PeruginiAddie NaylorVictoria FitzgeraldKaleigh SchwabAlice SchmidtSophie HartzellEmma GiugaBrooke Urmson, and Julie Ducato finished in first with a time of 8:19.9, three full minutes ahead of second place Robert Morris.
 
• Strong Start on the Water
At the Head of the Niagara, the Canisius novice 4 A boat, featuring Grace MetnickKatie BapstKaitlyn BoxleyFrancesca DiCamillo and Gwen Orluk, finished first with a time of 12:50.18 in the women's collegiate novice 4+ race. In Canisius' final race of the day, the women's collegiate 4+, the varsity 4 A boat, led by Morgan MarsalloDestiny Severn, Naylor, Skylar Vles and Hannah Kenefick, would claim first place with a time of 12:16.26.
 
• Honors for Brace
Head coach Kerri Brace was named to the NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Committee this past week. In her new role, Brace will assist with the administration of the 2024 and 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championship. The 2024 edition is slated for May 31 – June 2, 2024 in East Fork/Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio. Brace will also meet with the committee regularly to discuss ways to grow the sport and help enhance the student-athlete experience.
 
• Up Next
Canisius will be back in action on Oct. 28 with its final race of the Fall season at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa.
