Men’s Basketball to Host an Exhibition Game Oct. 21

Ahead of the 2023-24 men's basketball season, the Canisius Golden Griffins will host Toronto Metropolitan University for an exhibition game at the Koessler Athletic Center on Saturday, Oct. 21, head coach Reggie Witherspoon announced Wednesday.

Game time between the Griffs and the Bests is set for 6 p.m. Complimentary tickets will be provided to all returning season ticket holders and to anyone who purchases a 2023-24 season ticket package prior to the game. All others can purchase a general admission ticket for the exhibition game for $10.

This will be Canisius' first exhibition contest since the 2021-22 season, where the Blue and Gold defeated Wheeling 101-64 at the Koessler Athletic Center. The last time the Griffs played a Canadian school in an exhibition game prior to the regular season was 2019-20, where Canisius posted an 81-71 victory over McMaster.

The 120th season in school history will officially start Nov. 8, when Canisius travels to play at Syracuse. That game, which will tip-off at 7 p.m., at the JMA Wireless Dome, will be broadcast live online through ACC Network Extra. The Blue and Gold will open the home portion of its 2023-24 slate on Nov. 20, when the team plays host to D'Youville in the second game of a basketball doubleheader with the Canisius women's program. That game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
