Appenheimer Paces Cross Country at Paul Short Run

Senior Tom Appenheimer posted a top-10 finish to lead Canisius in the 48th edition of the Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, Friday at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa.

Racing in the brown division 8k event, Appenheimer turned in a time of 23:59.2 to place sixth, less than 10 seconds behind Norfolk State's Gidion Sigei, who completed the course in 23:51.1 to win the race.

Led by Appenheimer, Canisius finished in 21st place with a team total of 584 points, just two points back of Duquesne (582). Carnegie Melon won the men's race with a team total of 114 points. Emory placed second (166) while Haveford was third (187).

Senior Andrew Perreault (25:20.3/99th), graduate student Richard Moore (25:40.0/141th), sophomore Thomson Chew (25:42.9/153rd) and junior Collin Rice (26:03.2/209th) rounded out Canisius' top five male runners.

In the women's brown division 6k race, senior Marissa Silba (22:31.0/76th) and junior Jules Jones (22:38.7/86th) paced the Golden Griffins while senior Olivia Moran (22:50.7/117th), freshman Jacqueline Appenheimer (23:16.9/168th) and senior Rylee Campeau (24:34.8/308rd) completed Canisius' top five runners to put the Griffs in 25th place with 710 team points.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took first in the women's race with 82 team points. George Washington placed second with 214 team points while Lynchburg claimed third with 251 team points.
