The Canisius men's soccer team plays its home opener Sunday with a non-conference matchup against Duquesne. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex. The game will be aired on ESPN+.

The Golden Griffins opened up the 2022 campaign with a 4-0 loss to Cleveland State on Thursday. Graduate keeper William Howard made six stops, marking the second straight season he has made at least six saves in his first start with the Griffs.

Freshmen Tarek El-Zammar, Daniel Longo, Josh Miller, Kyle Pollard, Joseph Roper and Michael Switala and redshirt junior Obed Berhe all made their collegiate debuts against the Vikings, while junior transfer Ely Sidibe made his Division I debut.

Canisius will continue its four-game homestand with a match against Division I newcomer Stonehill on Sept. 2. Kickoff at the Demske is slated for 4 p.m.
