Women’s Basketball Announces 2022-23 Non-League Slate

A pair of home games against Big 4 rivals Buffalo and St. Bonaventure highlight the Canisius women's basketball non-conference schedule, second-year head coach Sahar Nusseibeh announced Tuesday.

In all, the Golden Griffins are scheduled to play nine non-conference dates, starting with the 2022-23 season opener against cross-town rival Buffalo at the Koessler Athletic Center on Nov. 7. One month later, on Dec. 7, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies make their way north to meet the Blue and Gold on the Koessler Athletic Center hardwood for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign. This year will mark the first time since the 2006-07 campaign where both the Buffalo Bulls and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies traveled to play at the Koessler Athletic Center in the same season.

The home date with Buffalo Nov. 7 will be the first game in a men's and women's basketball doubleheader, as the Canisius men's team will also open their 2022-23 campaign that night with a non-league home game against Youngstown State. The next two games for Nusseibeh's squad will be on the road at Toledo (Nov. 11) and at Detroit Mercy (Nov. 13) before the team returns home Nov. 19 when the Griffs play host to Binghamton.

The week of Thanksgiving will see Canisius play road games at Colgate (Nov. 22) and at Robert Morris (Nov. 26), but the Griffs do close out the first month of the regular season at home when UAlbany heads west on the New York State Thruway on Nov. 30.

After the St. Bonaventure game at home Dec. 7, the Griffs will wrap-up the non-league portion of their schedule Dec. 10 at Youngstown State. That game against the Penguins will be one of three road games for the Blue and Gold against Horizon League teams in 2022-23.

Canisius will also play 20 MAAC games during the 2022-23 campaign. The full MAAC schedule, game times, promotional schedules and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

Season tickets for the 2022-23 home men's and women's basketball schedule are on sale now through the Canisius Ticket Office.
