FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
The 11th-seeded Canisius Golden Griffins square off against the No. 6 seed Monmouth in the First Round of the MAAC Women's Basketball Championship at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on Tuesday afternoon.

2. MAAC Tournament History
Canisius is participating in its first MAAC Tournament since the 2019-20 season after the team's 2020-21 season was halted after five games.

Tuesday will mark the third time in the team's last four appearances that Canisius is playing Monmouth in the conference tournament. The Griffs are 0-3 against the Hawks at the MAAC Tournament, losing to the Hawks at the 2015, 2018 and 2019 tournaments.

3. It's Raining Threes!
The Griffs have made 234 shots from beyond the arc this season, ranking second in team history.

Entering Tuesday's contest, Canisius is 18 3-pointers shy of tying the program record set during the 2008-09 season (252).

It is the fifth time since the 3-point line was instituted that the team has eclipsed 200 made shots from beyond the arc.

4. Making the Free Ones
Sophomore Dani Haskell has tentatively etched her name in the Canisius record book for her stellar shooting from the free-throw line.

Haskell has made her last 18 attempts from the free-throw line, dating back to Feb. 12.

Her .883 career free throw percentage (98-of-111) is the highest by a Golden Griffin with a minimum of 75 made free throws. Jen Morabito is second with an .873 percentage from the charity stripe (124-of-142) in her 77 career games.

Haskell's .872 percentage this season at free-throw line (82-of-94) ranks sixth all-time in a single season (min. 45 makes). Ashley Durham has the single-season record for free throw percentage in 2012-13 (84-of-94 - .894).

5. Net 20
Haskell logged her seventh 20-point game of the season Saturday when she netted 21 points in the Griffs' 71-62 victory over Iona. It was also the sophomore's second consecutive 20-point game. No Canisius player had scored 20 points in two straight contests since D'Jhai Patterson-Ricks during the 2019-20 campaign.

With a 20-point game Tuesday, Haskell would be the first Canisius player to score 20-plus points in three straight games since Jénel Stevens scored 20-plus points in 10 straight contests during the 2002-03 season.
