Rowing Concludes Fall Season at Head of the Schuylkill

The Canisius rowing team concluded its 2022 fall season at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa., with the Novice 8 boat finishing in a team-best fifth place.

"It's always a great to be in Philly for the Head of the Schuylkill" head coach Kerri Brace said. "We went upagainst some really great competition today from all over the northeast and we're able to put up some solid results."
 
The Novice 8 boat, comprised of Gianna Perugini, Addie Naylor, Victoria Fitzgerald, Kaleigh Schwab, Alice Schmidt, Sophie Hartzell, Emma Giuga, Brooke Urmson, and Julie Ducato finished with a time of 14:42.001, the second fastest time of any Canisius boat. La Salle won the Novice 8 race with a time of 13:24.477.
 
The Championship 4 boat for Canisius finished in 12th place during its race, with the Club 8 boat placing 24th in its event.

Race Notes:
  • This is the second consecutive year the novice 8 boat for Canisius has finished within the top-five of their race. Last season, the novice 8 boat for the Griffs came in fourth place.
  • This is the third time in program history the Golden Griffins have raced in the Head of the Schuylkill.
  • In both the Novice 8 and Championship 4 races, Canisius finished one place ahead of St. Joseph's.
